Relationships are a huge part of both battles and downtime in Fire Emblem, and Three Houses has a lot of people you can get to know — and several of them are romanceable characters that you can get involved with on a deeper level.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes far more time to indulge in the downtime between missions than the previous entries in the series, and that means more time for love to blossom with romanceable character options for both the male and female versions of the protagonist, Byleth. The exact list varies a little between the two versions of the protagonist, but the good news is that there are some same-sex romances on both sides.
Characters who develop enough support can engage in special Support Conversations to build their bond from a rating of C all the way to A, earning new bonuses when fighting alongside each other. The main character, Bylethcan also increase their support rating to A with almost every character in the game - and even attain an "S" Support rating and eventually marry a character. Other characters that support each other may get as high as an A rank, though some can only reach a B rank, and others may not be able to unlock Support conversations at all.
Below is a list of every character known in the game that can gain support levels with someone else, and the highest level of support that can be obtain is listed where the names connect.
Note that depending on the choices you make, the gender of Bylethand the House you choose to join, some support may become unavailable.
Each of the leaders of the Three Houses can only gain supports if you are a member of their houses. While most other students can still gain support levels outside of your house and can also be recruited to join your teamcertain characters like HubertDedueand Hilda cannot be recruited or otherwise supported it appears that Hilda can only be recruited when playing as Male Byleth.
Note: It has been revealed that certain S-Rank Supports with older characterslike Aloismay not result in marriage, but will still have a special scene. The following tables list all known Characters that can achieve an S-Rank Support with the main Character Bylethwhich will result in a S tier support rank and a special scene.
In addition to being able to S-Rank all characters of the opposite sex, there are three same-sex S-Rank supports available to each gender for Byleth among students and the Knights of Seiros, and S-Rank Supports available for both genders regarding both Archbishop Rhea and the mysterious girl known as Sothis. A stoic, capable professor at the Officers Academy. Chosen by the player. During the course of the game they become a teacher at the Officers Academy.
Byleth was born of Jeralt and Sitri, a nun of the Church of Seiros in Imperial Yearin critical condition and not breathing. Rhea took the Crest Stone of Flames from Sitri who failed to achieve the progenitor god's conscience, and was also in critical condition and placed it within the infant Byleth's heart, both to save the infant Byleth as well as to try again to reawaken the goddess Sothis ; this resulted in Sitri's death.
During the battle, Byleth sacrifices themselves to save Edelgard from an attack; this awakens Sothis' consciousness within them, and she grants them the power of Divine Pulse to rewind time. Byleth chooses one of three academic houses to lead: Edelgard's Black EaglesDimitri's Blue Lionsor Claude's Golden Deerand spends the next year teaching them and fighting alongside them.
During this time, a masked individual calling themselves the Flame Emperor and a cult known only as " those who slither in the dark " launch attacks on the Church.
Rhea entrusts the sword to them. Eventually, the assassin Kronya murders Jeralt; Byleth pursues her into the Sealed Forest outside Garreg Mach, falls into a trap, and is banished into a realm of darkness. Sothis sacrifices her individuality to grant Byleth the full extent of her power, allowing them to escape. In the aftermath, Rhea takes them to the Holy Tomb far underneath Garreg Mach to receive a divine revelation. The Flame Emperor interrupts the ritual to raid the Tomb, and in the ensuing battle is revealed to be Edelgard.
If Byleth is a Black Eagle and attended her coronation as emperor earlier that month, they can defect to the Empire; otherwise, they remain allied with the Church. Edelgard, who views the Church as corrupt due to propagating the worship of Crests which led to the deaths of her siblings, declares war on the Church and attacks Garreg Mach. The Empire wins the battle, and Byleth is severely injured and falls into a coma for the next five years.
Byleth rallies an army to combat the Empire, with the exact details varying depending on the route. After a massive three-way battle between the Empire, Kingdom, and Alliance known as the Battle at Gronder, Byleth directly invades Adrestia and conquers Fort Merceus, a critical stronghold on the path to the Imperial capital of Enbarr. If you notice any errors, please report them to a member of our tech support team.

I see you're as stony-faced as usual. I can't tell if you're feeling resigned or if you're just lost in thought. Or maybe you simply don't care about anything that's going on. I really didn't mean to be rude. I just find you fascinating.
Actually, there's something I'd like to talk to you about. Can you spare some time? Byleth: I'm busy. Claude: Is that right? Maybe this is news to you, but teachers are supposed to display an active interest in the well-being of their students.
Claude: Speaking of, before you came here, you were a mercenary, right? Always getting your hands dirty on the battlefield and whatnot? It's a bit unusual that you suddenly decided to become a teacher one day. In any case, I've been meaning to ask. Did your father teach you how to fight? Byleth: Yes, he did. Claude: I figured. Your father used to lead the knights, didn't he? And I hear he was a legendary mercenary as well.
Byleth: No, he didn't. Claude: Is that so? Well, I'm sure you grew up watching his fighting style, even if he didn't teach you directly. Claude: It must have been hard on your mother when you followed in your father's footsteps and became a mercenary too.
Claude: I see. I suppose you grew up moving from battlefield to battlefield with your father then. You know, for someone who's right around the same age as me, you certainly have an unusual amount of composure. If you notice any errors, please report them to a member of our tech support team.

Dimitri: It's in regard to sword training. Not for myself, but To be honest, I've been teaching swordsmanship to the orphans at the monastery for a while now. Dimitri: Some of them saw me sparring with the knights one day. They started pestering me to teach them. They were so earnest I couldn't help but oblige.
There's much I wish to show them, but due to my own studies and training, I'm afraid my time is rather limited. Which brings me to my favor. Your swordsmanship is unmatched. I hate to ask this of you, but Would you consider lending me a hand? Dimitri: Thank you, truly.
I am in your debt.
And I always repay my debts, I'll have you know. All of these children lost their families and homes to war or illness. This may sound a bit arrogant, but I feel it's my responsibility to help them. I lost my parents without warning too. In that way, we're the same.
In Duscur, I lost my father, stepmother, and closest friends. I didn't have many allies at the castle after that.
In truth, I had only Dedue for companionship. Dimitri: I once had people I could confide in. Family, friends, instructors, even the royal soldiers. But they were all taken away from me four years ago.Byleth is a playable character and the main protagonist in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
As an Avatartheir name, gender, and birthday are customizable. Byleth serves as a professor at Garreg Mach Monastery. They possess the mysterious Crest of Flames and can wield the Sword of the Creator.
Born to Jeralt and Sitri on the 20th of the Horsebow MoonByleth lost their mother shortly after their birth. She was buried at Garreg Mach Monastery. The reason for Jeralt's departure began with the circumstances behind Byleth's birth. Sitri was the twelfth created vessel intended to host the spirit of Sothis through her Crest of Flames. Like her predecessors though, she too was unable to fully merge with Sothis.
Sitri eventually fell in love with Jeralt, who had received Seiros's crest when RheaSeiros's current alias, gave him her blood after he took a mortal wound in her stead. The union of the vessel and inheritor of Seiros' crest resulted in the birth of Byleth.
However, both Sitri and the newborn Byleth were too feeble, the latter especially having no heartbeat. Dying herself, Sitri pleaded to Rhea to transfer her Crest of Flames into her newborn. The transplant was a success and Byleth was revived, but at the cost of Sitri's life.
Jeralt, shocked by his wife's death, had a doctor examine his newborn to discover that they had a pulse, but no heartbeat. Jeralt's existing suspicions of Rhea grew after this event, especially with Byleth's unusual behavior, neither crying nor laughing as a baby.
Starting a blaze, he used the event to claim that his child had perished in the blaze on the 7th day of the month. Supposedly heartbroken by the deaths of his wife and child, he left the Monastery and secretly took Byleth with him. During Byleth's childhood, Jeralt shared little information about the world, the Church of Seiros and especially his past.
Byleth either forgot or never learned their true birthdate, Jeralt claiming they were born years after the fire to a woman who supposedly died of illness. Jeralt trained Byleth in combat, eventually joining his band of mercenaries and gaining a fearsome reputation for their unflinching courage in battle.
They would soon be known as the "Ashen Demon" as a result.
